SWAROVSKI KRIS BEARS WITH CUPCAKE PINK AND BLUE

With the latest series of the Great British Bake Off now well underway, we wondered whether Kris Bear’s attempts at a pink cupcake (5004484) and a blue cupcake (5051769) would be deemed worthy of a “Hollywood Handshake”?!!

SWAROVSKI WATERLILY STACK - DON'T TRY THIS AT HOME!

With less than 2 months to go to Christmas, here’s a “don’t try this at home” moment – the large, medium and small waterlily candleholders stacked together to form a crystal Christmas tree!

SWAROVSKI KRIS BEAR CLOCK

Here is the very cute Kris bear clock to remind our UK clients that it's that time of year again for us in the UK! Time to turn the clocks backwards and all get one hour more in bed! Alternatively, its a great day to get up early and have an extra hour doing fun things all day. The clocks will be going back on Sunday 24th October 2020 at 2am - so you will probably be fast asleep tucked up in bed when it happens!

SWAROVSKI PINK RIBBON / HOPE DUCK

23rd October 2020 is “Wear it Pink” day in the UK – and here’s the Happy Duck “Pink Hope” or “Pink Ribbon” duck which was a special release in 2010. This happy duck was produced in limited quantities in 2010 and was available only in certain countries. Proceeds benefitted Breast Cancer Research. The underside of the duck is etched with the swan logo, plus "2010" signifying year of production.

SWAROVSKI TINKERBELL RED DRESS / SANTA

Today we’re discussing Swarovski’s stunning “Lady in Red” – the beautiful Tinkerbell from 2012, known as Christmas Tinkerbell, Santa Tinkerbell or Red Dress Tinkerbell! Towards the end of 2012, we started to hear rumours about a special Tinkerbell which was only going to be released exclusively in the USA marketplace. We are not entirely sure what happened, but we wonder if Swarovski primary market retailers in other parts of the world asked if they could also sell the piece.

SWAROVSKI HONG KONG PYRAMID

We received a question from a collector asking about the Hong Kong selection pyramid (or obelisk). Why is it called “Hong Kong” pyramid? The Hong Kong pyramid was the first limited edition piece in Swarovski’s Selection (later called Décor) range. It was produced in 1997 in a limited edition of 1,997 pieces to mark the handover of Hong Kong from the UK to China. The designer is Tsang Mei Fong who was the winner of a Swarovski design competition set up to find a suitable commemorative piece to mark this historic event.

SWAROVSKI MERMAID

The first Swarovski crystal Mermaid was designed by Mario Dilitz and belonged to the “Fables and Tales” group within the Silver Crystal collection. The mermaid is made from clear crystal and she holds a pearl in hand. She was only available between 2006 and 2008, and is a firm favourite with collectors.

SWAROVSKI STANDING UNICORN

Swarovski’s standing unicorn was introduced in 2004 and retired from production in 2009. Designed by Anton Hirzinger, it is ever popular with collectors, many of whom say they prefer it to the 1996 annual edition Unicorn. This unicorn was part of the “Fables and Tales” collection within Swarovski's Silver Crystal range.

SWAROVSKI KIWI

The kiwi was available from 1991 and 1996 and was designed by Michael Stamey. It belonged to the Endangered species collection within the Silver Crystal range. The body of the kiwi is made from clear crystal and it has black eyes. The feet and beak are made from frosted crystal. We have noted that the earlier kiwis have a thicker, chunkier beak, whereas the later ones have a more sculptured beak. Here are some photos from different angles to show the difference as its difficult to explain!

SWAROVSKI GINGER THE CRANE

Designed by Peter Heidegger, and available between 2012 and 2013, Swarovski’s Lovlot Crane is called Ginger, and she belongs to the Birds on Broadway collection of Lovlots. Elegant, attractive, and artistic, the stunning crane Ginger loves to make a grand entrance! Wearing a glamorous pink gown in Bordeaux crystal, her head shines in Light Amethyst Moonlight crystal with a Crystal Comet Argent Light beak and Jet crystal eyes. Apparently she is the love interest of the very shy Fred the Vulture who we featured a few weeks ago! It’s all go in Lovlots City!
