Here's a little bit about what "OM" represents:

The syllable OM is described in the Indian scriptures as the divine sound or the mantra from which the whole universe evolved. It is often used in the beginning and at the end of prayer, with yoga or meditation. Chanting the OM generates creative energy in all three states of mind - the awake, sleep and deep sleep state.
